General Layout

Dockable Widgets

This screenshot illustrates several of the dockable tool widgets that you can arrange in Indigo. The customized arrangement is persisted and restored when the program is re-opened.

Connection Protocols

Indigo supports a full complement of terminal communication protocols including: Raw (pure ASCII, no protocol), Telnet, SSH1, SSH2, SSH AUTO (Auto negotiation between SSH1 and SSH2), RSH, RLOGIN, ECHO, DAYTIME, and CHARGEN

Standard Terminal Session Mode

Indigo supports a dtandard terminal mode where raw data received is displayed in the text area. This view mode supports line numbering, line highlighting, syntax text coloring, etc. This is not the mode for interacting with a terminal emulation protocol such as VT100.

Direct Terminal Emulation Mode

Indigo supports a direct input screen mode where you can directly type commands into the data window. This is the view mode that should be used when using a terminal emulation protocol such as VT100.

ASCII Chart

The ASCII chart is a helpful reference that can be accessed anytime by pressing the 'F12' key.

Quick Connect Toolbar

If you need to quickly create an ad-hoc connection to a telnet or serial host, Indigo provides a quick-connect toolbar where you can enter the basic connection information and connect immediately to the host without having to create a persisted session instance in Indigo.

Session Manager

The session manager is a dockable widget that provides access to all your defined terminal sessions. You can create and manage terminal sessions and launch sessions using this tool widget.

Command Library

The command library is a dockable tool widget allowing terminal commands to be convienantly saved and accessed. This widget is focused on storing and managing collections of related commands in library files.

Variable Manager

The variable manager is a dockable tool widget that allows you to define and recall variables for use with terminal send commands. When a command is transmitted to the terminal session connection, any detected variable tokens are replaced with the variable values from the variable library listing.

Command Repeater

The command repeater is a dockable tool widget that allows you to populate a list of commands and variables that can be transmitted to a connected terminal session on a repeated basis with defined time delay intervals. The variables can also be manipulated mathematically on each command execution cycle if needed.

Data Converter

This data converter tool widget allows you to highlight data in a terminal session window or drag and drop ASCII data into the tool widget to convert the data to the desired data display conversion format.

User Custom Data Conversion Editor

Indigo provides a user customizable data formatting editor allowing you to define the string or character to display for each data byte received. You can pick from one of the standardized output types such as DEC or HEX or define your own custom display string.

Data Logging Options

Indigo includes a very robust logging infrstructure allowing each terminal session to record received data directly to log files. Each terminal session maintains it's own discrete log file and log file settings. Indigo provides a wide variety of logging options useful for long term and short term data logging. These features include constraining log file sizes, automatically rolling over to new log files based on file size or based on date change, and appending time stamps on received data in the log record.

Macro Menu

Indigo provides a command macros feature that allows you to store frequently used terminal session commands as menu items and hot keys. This allows these frequently used commands to be quickly and convienantly accessed using this main pull down menu, using the macro toolbar buttons, or by pressing a keyboard hot key combination

Window States Toolbar

Indigo can record and recall windows states. Windows state are the location on screen and size of the Indigo program window.

Serial Pass Mode (Serial Sniffer)

Serial pass mode allows you to create a serial session that bridges two physical com ports on the computer and allows you to monitor all data transfer between the two connections. This is essentailly a serial data "sniffer" with Indigo in the middle listening to the serial bi-directional data.

Dump Raw File

The feature allows you to specify an input file that Indigo will read and transmit the data to the connected terminal session. You can set the byte streaming rates and packet chunk sizes.

Internal Command Processor

Indigo supports an internal command processor allowing you to send special instruction commands to the session to interact with Indigo and perform special tasks.

Program Preferences

Indigo supports a global set of settings and preferences that can determine how the software will operate in certain conditions.

Syntax Text Coloring

Syntax text coloring can be defined for words or byte sequences that you want to stand out in the terminal data window. The syntax text coloring will color all user-defined data strings in the terminal session data window.

Line Numbering & Split Windows

Line numbering can be enabled in each Indigo terminal session window.

Session windows also support split-views where you can split the window to preview two different sections of received data in the same session window.

Software Web Update

Indigo supports a Web Update feature that will determine if a newer version of the software is available and if so, download it for you and launch the update installer.

Integrated Web Browser

Indigo contains an internal web browser allowing users to bookmark web sessions and launch then from within Indigo.
